Mouse primary lung cells (MPLUCs) are isolated from tissue of pathogen-free laboratory mice.
C57BL/6 Mouse Lung Cells are primary cells isolated from the lung tissue of pathogen-free laboratory mice, serving as a fundamental model for studying lung structure in mice, characterizing C57BL/6 alveolar cells, and exploring mouse respiratory epithelium. These cells reside within the tracheobronchial epithelium, distal bronchioles, alveolar septa, and alveolar lumen of the pulmonary parenchyma. Following primary culture, these cells are cryopreserved. The cells maintain critical respiratory functions including facilitating gas exchange (alveolar epithelium), airway clearance (mucociliary escalator), and immune defense (alveolar macrophage activation). Studies demonstrate their implication in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (TGF-β-induced EMT), asthma/COPD (Th2-mediated mucus hypersecretion), and lung adenocarcinoma. Phenotypic characterization confirms cell-type-specific markers including CC10 for Clara cells, SPC for type II pneumocytes, and CD68 for alveolar macrophages. For optimal performance, repeated freezing and thawing should be avoided during culture. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

C57BL/6 Mouse Lung Cells can be used as an in vitro model to study the pathogenesis of respiratory diseases in conditions such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Researchers could investigate TGF-β/Smad3-mediated epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in pulmonary fibrosis, IL-13/STAT6-driven mucus hypersecretion in asthma/COPD, and oncogenic transformation pathways in lung adenocarcinoma. These cells help elucidate mechanisms of extracellular matrix deposition, goblet cell hyperplasia, and airway remodeling.
