Human colon carcinoma. Derived from a pelvic wall metastasis of a 69 year old female with colon carcinoma.
The COLO-741 cell line is derived from a pelvic wall metastasis of a 69-year-old female with colon carcinoma. This cell line exhibits a stable microsatellite status (MSS) as confirmed by Sanger sequencing and shows a fibroblast-like appearance and demonstrates an adherent growth pattern with a pronounced spindle-like shape. Genomic analysis reveals a mutational burden of 43.13 mutations per megabase. They express N-cadherin, vimentin, EMT-TFs, and TWIST1 protein. The cells are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, fungi, yeast and bacteria. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

The COLO-741 cell line is widely utilized in cancer research. It serves as a critical model for investigating metastatic mechanisms, particularly in studying epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and tumor invasiveness, given its pleomorphic morphology and migratory capacity. Additionally, COLO-741 supports studies on cellular responses related to drug resistance in colorectal cancer models.
