Human Caucasian renal leiomyoblastoma. Derived from a tumour of a 9 month old female Caucasian. Highly transformed and grows in soft agar.
G-402 is a human cancer cell line isolated from a metastatic lesion in the kidney of a 9-month-old Caucasian female with malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH). This cell line exhibits epithelial-like morphology and grows as an adherent monolayer culture. Cytogenetic analysis indicates a hyperdiploid modal chromosome number of 47. It harbors a mutation in TP53 and demonstrates overexpression of KANK1. G-402 exhibits tumorigenic potential, while metastatic spread is typically limited in standard models. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

G-402 serves as a preclinical model for renal cancer research, specifically in drug screening and pharmacogenomic profiling within a large-scale oncology initiative. Its applications include identifying therapeutic sensitivities to anticancer compounds, validating molecular targets through genomic and proteomic analyses, and discovering biomarkers associated with kidney tumor pathogenesis. This cell line provides a standardized platform for evaluating drug efficacy and resistance mechanisms in renal neoplasms.
