Human undifferentiated carcinoma cell line from floor of mouth (HeLa evidences are observed).
HSGc-C5 is a human carcinoma cell line originally derived from in situ endocervical adenocarcinoma of the cervix and uterus in a 30-year-old African American female donor. It exhibits an epithelial-like morphology and grows as adherent monolayers under standard culture conditions. HSGc-C5 is classified as a HPV18-positive tumor line. Human HSGc-C5 cell line has an average doubling time of approximately 23 hours. It is used as a benchmark model in radiobiology and DNA damage research due to its reproducible growth and response to ionizing radiation. Studies have applied HSGc-C5 cells to investigate DNA damage repair performance and cell survival following irradiation, making it a relevant model for radiation oncology research. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

HSGc-C5 cells are used as an in vitro model for HPV-associated carcinoma and radiobiology research, particularly to study DNA damage repair mechanisms and cellular responses to proton and carbon ion irradiation in cancer cells. They support analyses of cell survival, radiation sensitivity, and DNA repair kinetics, which are valuable for preclinical evaluation of radiotherapy strategies.
