Human Adult Epidermal Keratinocytes–Diabetic Type II support diabetic skin research, wound healing models, and keratinocyte function evaluation.
Human Adult Epi. Keratinocytes-Diabetic Type II are primary cells isolated from skin biopsies of human donors diagnosed with type II diabetes. Following primary culture, these cells are cryopreserved to preserve their disease-specific characteristics. The cells exhibit key pathological features of diabetic skin that directly impair skin cell regeneration in Type II diabetes, including impaired barrier function, reduced migratory capacity, and dysregulated cytokine production due to hyperglycemic microenvironments. These cells are associated with Type II diabetes complications, including chronic non-healing foot ulcers, diabetic dermopathy, and increased susceptibility to skin infections like cellulitis and necrotizing fasciitis. They express Receptor for Advanced Glycation End Products, a key mediator of diabetic tissue damage. To maintain these critical pathological features, repeated freezing and thawing should be avoided during culture. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Human Adult Epidermal Keratinocytes-Diabetic Type II serve as a critical in vitro model to study impaired wound healing mechanisms in Type II diabetes complications such as diabetic foot ulcers. Researchers utilize this system to investigate hyperglycemia-induced alterations in cell migration, proliferation, and growth factor secretion that contribute to chronic wound formation. The cells enable detailed analysis of molecular pathways underlying diabetic skin complications. This model system enables the screening of pro-healing compounds and the development of targeted therapies for chronic diabetic wounds. The preserved diabetic phenotype makes these keratinocytes particularly valuable for translational research aimed at bridging laboratory findings.
