Description

Human Glomerular cells are adherent, fenestrated microvascular cells isolated from healthy adult human renal glomeruli. These cells form the vital filtration interface of the glomerulus and express key markers including CD31, VE-cadherin, von Willebrand factor (vWF), and perlecan. They exhibit characteristic cobblestone morphology and fenestrae essential for selective permeability and filtration barrier integrity. Their well-defined phenotype, fenestrated structure, and retention of glomerular markers make them a physiologically relevant model for kidney filtration, endothelial barrier studies, and glomerular biology research. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures and is tested to ensure it is free from contamination by HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Human Glomerular cells are instrumental for modeling the kidney’s filtration barrier in vitro, enabling studies of permeability control, proteinuria mechanisms, and endothelial–podocyte interactions. They are valuable for establishing co-culture systems or glomerulus-on-a-chip platforms to test nephroprotective compounds, anti-proteinuric drugs, and cellular responses under diabetic or inflammatory conditions. These cells also support investigations into glomerular endothelial injury, repair mechanisms, and drug screening for renal disease therapies.
