Human liver endothelial cells are derived from purified CD34+ liver cells.
Human Liver Endothelial Cells are primary endothelial cells isolated from prenatal liver tissue and enriched for CD34 expression to ensure homogeneity and physiological relevance. These cells exhibit typical cobblestone endothelial morphology and are positively characterized by uptake of DiI-Ac-LDL, and expression of CD31 (PECAM-1) and von Willebrand Factor (vWF/Factor VIII), reflecting sinusoidal permeability in liver. They represent the specialized sinusoidal endothelium of the liver, crucial for filtering blood, regulating immune interactions, and supporting liver endothelial barrier function and hepatic microcirculation. To ensure the quality of these primary cells, repeated freeze-thaw cycles are not recommended due to the fragile nature of these cells. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

These cells are well-suited for studies on hepatic angiogenesis, macromolecular transport, liver-specific drug permeability, cardiovascular pharmacology, and modeling hepatic vascular disorders. They are widely used in preclinical research to explore endothelial function, hepatovascular interactions, and to assess the efficacy or toxicity of drug candidates under liver-mimicking conditions in various in vitro systems.
