The cells are single, spindle-shaped, primary-like smooth muscle cells derived from mouse ES cells.
Murine ESC Derived Smooth Muscle Cells are differentiated from mouse embryonic stem cells (ESCs) under controlled conditions to yield a homogeneous population of functional smooth muscle cells. They exhibit characteristic spindle-shaped morphology with adherent growth. Functionally, they recapitulate smooth muscle properties, including contractility and extracellular matrix synthesis, and are used to model vascular development or diseases like atherosclerosis. The cells express smooth muscle marker α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA). These cells maintain proliferative capacity in vitro. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Murine ESC Derived Smooth Muscle Cells serve as a powerful in vitro cell model for investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying vascular and developmental conditions, including atherosclerosis, hypertension, and vascular malformations. For example, by investigating their differentiation markers, contractile function, and response to mechanical stress or inflammatory cytokines, researchers can explore molecular pathways underlying smooth muscle cell dysfunction, supporting discovery research and target identification for vascular-related cellular and molecular mechanisms.
