Description

PC-9
The PC-9 cell line is a human non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell line derived from lung adenocarcinoma. It exhibits a mixture of round and spindle-shaped cells. PC-9 cells display both adherent and suspension growth. PC-9 cells carry a deletion mutation in exon 19 of the EGFR gene and are highly sensitive to EGFR-TKI gefitinib. They are an important model for studying the mechanism of drug resistance in targeted therapy of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Its derived cell lines such as PC-9/ZD and PC-9/GR can simulate clinical drug resistance and be used to explore drug resistance gene regulatory networks and combination drug strategies.

Application

  • PC-9 cells are widely used in cancer research. They can be used to investigate the impact of α-tocopherol on cytotoxic drugs, investigating whether it enhances or diminishes their effectiveness against NSCLC. Additionally, PC-9 cells serve as a model to study resistance to tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) in lung cancer, helping understand the mechanisms involved. Moreover, they can be utilized in tumorigenicity studies to assess the tumorigenic potential and characteristics of NSCLC. These applications contribute to advancing our understanding of NSCLC biology, drug resistance, and the development of effective treatment strategies.
