Description

Rat Bladder Microvascular Endothelial Cells (BMECs) are isolated from the microvasculature of the urinary bladder of rats. These cobblestone-forming endothelial cells are confirmed to express CD31 and ZO-1. BMECs actively participate in angiogenesis, intercellular adhesion, and barrier integrity, making them ideal for vascular permeability and transendothelial resistance (TER) assays. Under bladder outlet obstruction or chronic stress conditions, bladder microvascular endothelial cells dynamically modulate VEGF, Angiopoietin, and HIF-1α expression, reflecting their physiological relevance in bladder ischemia and remodeling models. Additionally, they contribute to urothelial barrier maintenance and microvascular perfusion, as demonstrated in models of bladder injury and outlet obstruction. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures and is tested to ensure it is free from contamination by Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Rat BMECs are ideal for studying bladder microcirculation, endothelial dysfunction, and ischemia-related remodeling under stress conditions such as bladder outlet obstruction. These cells enable in vitro investigation of angiogenic responses, tight junction integrity, and endothelial barrier permeability. They are widely used in models of vascular repair, bladder ischemia, drug-induced endotheliopathy, and for assessing VEGF- or HIF-1α–mediated signaling pathways in urological and vascular research.
