Description

Rat Brain Cortex Neurons are primary neuronal cells isolated from the cerebral cortex of rats under sterile conditions. They exhibit a characteristic pyramidal morphology with extensive dendritic and axonal networks. Cortical neurons play central roles in synaptic transmission, neurodevelopment, and neural plasticity, making them indispensable in neurophysiological research. Primary rat brain cortex neurons are electrically excitable and express key neuronal marker βIII-tubulin (TUBB3). Rat cortical neurons are widely used to investigate excitotoxicity, neurodegeneration, and signaling pathways related to disorders such as epilepsy, stroke, and Alzheimer's disease. These cells do not proliferate in vitro and cannot be subcultured. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Rat Brain Cortex Neurons serve as a robust in vitro model for studying synaptic formation, neurotoxicity, neurodevelopment, and neuroinflammation. They are particularly valuable in elucidating mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative disorders, screening neuroprotective drugs, and modeling ischemic brain injury. Their stable phenotype and electrophysiological activity enable high-content imaging, patch-clamp recordings, and gene expression profiling to advance CNS-related therapeutic research.
