Description

Rat Dermal Epithelial Cells are primary cells isolated from the epidermal layer of healthy rats. These polygonal, tightly packed cells exhibit adherent growth and represent the outermost barrier of the skin. Following isolation, cells are cryopreserved at an early passage to preserve their native phenotype and functionality. They express epithelial cytokeratins such as K14 and pan-cytokeratin, which are key markers of epidermal epithelial cells. Functionally, these cells play essential roles in wound repair, barrier maintenance, and cytokine-mediated immune responses. Rat dermal epithelial cells are widely used in dermatological models to study inflammation, skin regeneration, and toxicological screening. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Application

  • Rat dermal epithelial cells are widely utilized in cutaneous biology research, including skin homeostasis, responses to UV radiation, and epidermal regeneration processes. They are also essential in modeling dermatotoxicity, wound healing, and inflammatory dermatoses such as psoriasis or atopic dermatitis. In vitro, these cells offer a reproducible platform for drug screening, biomaterial testing, and exploring molecular pathways underlying epithelial dysfunction in rodent skin models.
