Description

Rat Dermal Fibroblasts-adult are primary cells isolated from the dermal layer of adult rat skin. These spindle-shaped, adherent cells are collected at an early passage and cryopreserved to preserve their proliferative and functional integrity. Adult dermal fibroblasts play a vital role in extracellular matrix (ECM) synthesis, wound healing, and tissue remodeling by secreting key structural proteins such as type I and III collagen, fibronectin, and elastin. They express key mesenchymal markers like vimentin and α-SMA. Compared to neonatal fibroblasts, adult fibroblasts generally exhibit lower proliferative capacity and a different profile of growth factor responsiveness. These cells are commonly used in dermatological models to study inflammation, skin regeneration, and toxicological screening. The cells are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast and Bacteria.

Application

  • Adult rat dermal fibroblasts serve as a reliable in vitro model for studying skin biology, fibrotic responses, and wound healing dynamics. They are widely used in research on dermal regeneration, ECM remodeling, and scar formation in adult skin. These cells also provide a relevant platform for evaluating anti-fibrotic drugs, biomaterials for skin grafts, and the cellular responses to inflammatory stimuli. Their responsiveness to growth factors such as TGF-β and FGF facilitates exploration of signaling mechanisms involved in cutaneous fibrosis and tissue repair.
