Description

Rat Kidney Glomerular Endothelial Cells (rKGECs) are primary microvascular cells isolated from the glomerular capillaries of healthy rat kidneys. These cells exhibit a characteristic cobblestone morphology and form tightly packed monolayers with firm adherence to collagen- or fibronectin-coated culture surfaces. Under optimized endothelial growth conditions, they express key endothelial markers such as CD31 (PECAM-1), von Willebrand factor (vWF), and VE-cadherin. These cells are cryopreserved at low passage to ensure high post-thaw viability and consistent phenotype. To maintain optimal endothelial function and morphology, repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Rat Kidney Glomerular Endothelial Cells are widely used in studies of glomerular filtration, endothelial permeability, and kidney microvascular inflammation. They serve as a critical in vitro model for studying the pathophysiology of diabetic nephropathy, glomerulonephritis, and thrombotic microangiopathies. These cells are also employed in co-culture systems with podocytes and mesangial cells to replicate the glomerular filtration barrier for disease modeling and drug screening.
