Description

Rat Lung Microvascular Endothelial Cells (rLMVECs) are primary endothelial cells isolated from the microvasculature of rat lungs. These cells display a typical cobblestone morphology in culture and adhere robustly to extracellular matrix-coated surfaces, such as fibronectin or collagen. As specialized endothelial cells, rLMVECs express key markers including CD31 (PECAM-1), VE-cadherin, von Willebrand factor (vWF), and endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), which are essential for maintaining vascular integrity and function. They play an essential role in regulating pulmonary microvascular permeability, leukocyte trafficking, and angiogenesis. Cells are cryopreserved at early passage to maintain viability and phenotypic stability. To ensure optimal functionality, repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Rat Lung Microvascular Endothelial Cells (rLMVECs) are widely used to study pulmonary microcirculation, inflammation, and endothelial barrier function. They serve as a robust in vitro model for investigating acute lung injury, pulmonary hypertension, and various inflammatory pulmonary conditions. rLMVECs are also valuable for assessing endothelial responses to cytokines, oxidative stress, and drug candidates, and for exploring the molecular mechanisms of leukocyte adhesion and transmigration under inflammatory conditions.
