AcceGen offers an assortment of various human and non-human hepatic derived cells.
Rat Plateable Hepatocytes are isolated from rat liver tissue. These cells are cryopreserved following primary culture. They express α-fetoprotein (AFP), HepPar-1 antigen and arginase-1. They serve as an important model for studying hepatic drug metabolism, enabling researchers to investigate how compounds are processed and eliminated by the liver. Rat hepatocytes are also commonly used for toxicity testing and disease modeling, including in vitro systems simulating liver fibrosis or hepatitis. Due to their lack of in vitro proliferation capacity and inability to be passaged, repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided to maintain cell viability. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Rat Plateable Hepatocytes are frequently used in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics studies to assess compound absorption, biotransformation, and toxicity. These cells retain essential liver-specific functions and enzyme activity, making them ideal for hepatotoxicity assays, cytochrome P450 induction studies, and mechanistic investigations of liver diseases. They also provide a predictive tool for assessing hepatic clearance and drug-drug interactions in preclinical development.
