Rat Primary Prostate Fibroblasts from AcceGen are isolated from tissue of adult Sprague-Dawley Rats.
Rat Prostate Fibroblasts are derived from the stromal compartment of rat prostate tissue. Functionally, prostate fibroblasts play a crucial role in extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling, secreting collagen and elastin to maintain stromal architecture. They also participate in paracrine signaling, influencing epithelial cell behavior during prostate development, inflammation, and disease progression. In pathological conditions, such as prostatic stromal hyperplasia, fibroblasts contribute to excessive ECM deposition and smooth muscle proliferation, particularly under hormonal imbalances. These cells express Vimentin. To ensure the quality of these primary cells, repeated freeze-thaw cycles are not recommended due to the fragile nature of these cells. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Rat Prostate Fibroblasts (RPFs) are widely used in biomedical research to study prostate stromal-epithelial interactions, fibrosis, and tumor microenvironment dynamics. Their primary application lies in modeling benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer, where they contribute to extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling, inflammation, and disease progression. Additionally, RPFs serve as a tool for drug screening, evaluating anti-fibrotic or anti-inflammatory compounds targeting stromal activation.
