Rat Primary Pulmonary Vein Fibroblasts from AcceGen are isolated from tissue of neonatal Sprague-Dawley Rats.
Rat Pulmonary Vein Fibroblasts are primary, spindle-shaped mesenchymal cells isolated from the pulmonary veins of healthy neonatal Sprague-Dawley rats. They express fibroblast-specific protein-1 (FSP1/S100A4) and vimentin. The cells synthesize extracellular-matrix proteins—principally collagens I/III and fibronectin—and are activated by TGF-β1 or angiotensin II, recapitulating pathways underlying the role of fibroblasts in pulmonary hypertension and vein-wall fibrosis. These cells are widely used in lung fibroblast research to study pulmonary vascular remodeling and hypertension. To ensure the quality of these primary cells, repeated freeze-thaw cycles are not recommended due to the fragile nature of these cells. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

These fibroblasts provide an in-vitro platform for studying pulmonary vein remodeling, extracellular-matrix regulation, fibroblast–myocyte crosstalk, fibrosis signaling (e.g., TGF-β/Smad, ERK), and for evaluating anti-fibrotic or anti-hypertensive therapeutics using PCR, Western blot, immunostaining, and flow cytometry assays. They are also useful for modeling disease-relevant cellular behaviors and testing pathway-specific interventions under controlled laboratory conditions.
