Sprague-Dawley (SD) Fetal Rat Hippocampus Neurons provide a neurobiology model for synaptic function, memory, and neurodegenerative research.
Sprague-Dawley (SD) Fetal Rat Hippocampus Neurons are isolated from the hippocampal tissue of embryonic rat fetuses. Cryopreserved after primary dissociation, these cells display pyramidal or polygonal soma with extensive neurite outgrowths forming synaptic networks in adherent cultures. They function in learning, memory formation, and synaptic plasticity, making them relevant to studies on Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, and ischemic brain injury. They express hippocampal neuronal markers such as microtubule-associated protein 2 (MAP2) and β-tubulin. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Sprague-Dawley (SD) Fetal Rat Hippocampus Neurons serve as an in vitro model to study hippocampal development and pathogenesis of neurodevelopmental disorders. For example, by examining molecular pathways of synaptic plasticity, neurogenesis, and glutamate signaling, they enhance understanding of fetal hippocampal neuron functions and pathological changes, aiding in exploring treatments for such disorders.
