Description

Human primary melanocytes, Foreskin are isolated from foreskin tissue and cryopreserved at an early passage to maintain physiological relevance. These specialized neural crest–derived pigment-producing cells exhibit characteristic dendritic or polygonal morphology and actively synthesize melanin within melanosomes, which they transfer to surrounding keratinocytes to mediate UV protection and skin pigmentation. Human foreskin melanocytes robustly express hallmark melanocytic marker S100-beta. Foreskin-derived melanocytes are particularly valuable for studying pigmentation disorders, UV responses, and melanoma progression. As non-transformed primary cells, they retain a finite replicative capacity and should not be passaged beyond recommended limits. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • AcceGen’s human melanocytes, foreskin are ideal for in vitro investigations of melanogenesis, pigmentation genetics, UV-induced DNA damage repair, and cellular senescence. They provide a reliable model for studying dermatological conditions such as vitiligo, albinism, and melasma, and are widely used for toxicology testing and drug screening. Moreover, they serve as a foundation for melanoma research—allowing comparisons between normal and transformed counterparts to explore oncogenic mutations, tumor suppressor pathways, and epitope-specific immunotherapies. These cells support co-culture systems with keratinocytes or fibroblasts to model skin microenvironment interactions and barrier functions.
