KY821 is a human acute myelomonocytic leukemia cell line derived from peripheral blood of a 28-year old male. The cells exhibit lymphocyte-like morphology and suspension culture properties, the cell may grow slowly at first after thawing. KY821 cells are characterized by its granulocytic maturation numerous double minute chromosomes (dmin) derived from chromosome 8, and the 8q22–24 containing MYC is amplified in dmin. KY821 cells also carry concurrent oncogenic NRAS and TP53R175H/- mutations, and these AML cells are matained by sustained expression of mutant p53. The fore-mentioned properties make KY821 and its clone cell line suitable for studying drug resistance mechanism and its relation with dmin. The cells are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast and Bacteria.

The KY821 cell line is used in AML pathogenisis research, drug screening and resistance studies. These studies are closely associatedwith its molecular mechanisms underlying hematopoietic neoplasms.
