Description

Rat Calvariae Osteoblasts are primary bone-forming cells isolated from the calvarial bones of neonatal rats. These osteoblasts exhibit a polygonal to spindle-shaped morphology and adhere firmly to culture surfaces. They are collected at an early passagefserved at an early passage to retain osteogenic potential and responsiveness. These cells play a critical role in bone matrix synthesis and mineralization by producing type I collagen, osteocalcin, and alkaline phosphatase (ALP). Functionally, they contribute to bone remodeling and are highly responsive to hormonal and mechanical stimuli, making them valuable for studying osteoporosis, bone healing, and implant biocompatibility. Rat calvarial osteoblasts typically express ALP. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Rat Calvariae Osteoblasts are widely used in bone biology research to investigate osteogenesis, mineral deposition, and bone-related signaling pathways. They serve as an in vitro model for drug screening, biomaterial testing, and hormonal regulation studies related to skeletal diseases such as osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. These cells are also employed in 3D scaffold testing and bone–implant interface research to simulate bone formation and extracellular matrix (ECM) interaction in controlled laboratory settings.
