Description

Rat Dermal Fibroblasts-fetal are primary cells isolated from the dermal layer of fetal rat skin. These cells are cryopreserved at an early passage. They exhibit spindle-shaped morphology and adherent growth pattern in culture. Distinguishing them from neonatal and adult fibroblasts, these cells exhibit higher proliferative capacity and enhanced regenerative potential. They play a vital role in extracellular matrix (ECM) synthesis, wound healing, and tissue remodeling by secreting key structural proteins such as type I and type III collagen, fibronectin, and elastin. Rat fetal dermal fibroblasts express mesenchymal markers including vimentin and α-SMA. Due to their fetal origin, these cells display unique characteristics relevant for studying scarless wound healing and early developmental processes. The cells are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast and Bacteria.

Application

  • Fetal rat dermal fibroblasts are particularly valuable for research into developmental skin biology, scarless wound healing, and enhanced regenerative mechanisms that differ significantly from adult fibroblast behavior. They are widely used in research on dermal regeneration, ECM remodeling, and scar formation. These cells also provide a relevant platform for evaluating anti-fibrotic drugs, biomaterials for skin grafts, and the cellular responses to inflammatory stimuli. Their responsiveness to growth factors such as TGF-β and FGF further enables exploration of signaling mechanisms involved in cutaneous fibrosis and tissue repair.
