Description

Rat Intestinal Endothelial Cells are primary cells isolated from the microvascular endothelium of rat small intestinal tissue. These cells exhibit a characteristic cobblestone morphology and form a contact-inhibited monolayer when cultured under appropriate conditions. They strongly adhere to collagen-coated surfaces and exhibit robust proliferative potential in vitro. Rat Intestinal Endothelial Cells express key endothelial markers such as CD31 (PECAM-1), VE-cadherin, and von Willebrand Factor (vWF). They also maintain tight junction integrity and are capable of responding to inflammatory stimuli and shear stress. Cells are cryopreserved at early passage to preserve native phenotype and optimal viability. For best results, repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided to maintain cellular integrity and function. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Rat Intestinal Endothelial Cells serve as a robust in vitro model for studying the physiological and pathological roles of the intestinal microvasculature. They are widely used in studies of gastrointestinal inflammation, ischemia–reperfusion injury, barrier integrity, leukocyte trafficking, and cross-talk with epithelial and immune cells. These cells are also ideal for modeling drug absorption and transport across the intestinal endothelium, making them valuable for preclinical pharmacokinetics and toxicity testing. Their ability to respond to cytokines and shear stress further supports their application in vascular inflammation and angiogenesis studies within the intestinal environment.
