Rat Kidney Proximal Tubular Epithelial Cells provide a primary model for nephrology research, drug metabolism, transport assays, and toxicology studies.
Rat Kidney Proximal Tubular Epithelial Cells (rKPTEpiCs) are primary cells isolated from the proximal tubule segments of healthy rat kidneys. These cells exhibit a cobblestone morphology and form polarized monolayers with tight junctions when cultured on appropriate substrates. They adhere strongly to collagen-coated culture vessels and demonstrate characteristic brush-border microvilli under microscopy. rKPTEpiCs express proximal tubule-specific markers including aquaporin-1 (AQP1) and megalin. Cryopreserved at early passage to maintain optimal viability and phenotypic stability; repeated freeze-thaw cycles are discouraged to preserve cellular integrity and performance. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Rat Kidney Proximal Tubular Epithelial Cells are widely used to investigate renal reabsorption, drug transport, and nephrotoxicity. They provide a physiologically relevant in vitro model for studying acute kidney injury (AKI), ischemia-reperfusion damage, and the progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD). These cells are also ideal for screening nephrotoxic compounds, assessing transporters like OATs and OCTs, and exploring the epithelial response to inflammation and oxidative stress.

Rat Kidney Proximal Tubular Epithelial Cells and Rat Renal Proximal Tubular Epithelial Cells refer to the same type of primary cell product. The difference is mainly related to product naming and search terminology, with both names describing rat renal proximal tubular epithelial cells.
