Description

Rat Liver Epithelial Cells are primary cells isolated from healthy rat liver tissue. These cells exhibit a cobblestone epithelial morphology and form tightly adherent monolayers under standard culture conditions. They exhibit epithelial-specific features, including well-defined intercellular junctions and apical-basal polarity, and they express key markers such as cytokeratin-18 (CK-18), epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM), and γ-glutamyl transferase (GGT). Rat Liver Epithelial Cells contribute to bile duct maintenance, regeneration, and epithelial-mesenchymal interactions within the liver. Cryopreserved at early passage, they retain high post-thaw viability and stable phenotypic characteristics. To preserve optimal cellular function and consistency, repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Rat Liver Epithelial Cells are used in studies of cholangiocyte biology, bile duct development, and liver epithelial regeneration. They offer a robust in vitro platform for exploring liver fibrosis, biliary injury, and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT). These cells are also utilized in hepatobiliary toxicity assessments, liver organoid development, and signal transduction mechanisms in liver epithelial cells, making them valuable for both basic and translational liver studies.
