Rat nerve stromal cells.
Rat Nerve Stromal Cells (NSCs) are a heterogeneous population of cells derived from the neural crest or mesenchymal stem cell lineages within the peripheral nervous system (PNS). These cells primarily include Schwann cells, perineurial cells, endoneurial fibroblasts, and mesenchymal stromal cells that support nerve structure and function. NSCs maintain PNS homeostasis by promoting axonal integrity, myelination, and neurotrophic support. Key markers include S100β and Vimentin. To ensure the quality of these primary cells, repeated freeze-thaw cycles are not recommended due to the fragile nature of these cells. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Rat Nerve Stromal Cells have significant applications in nerve regeneration, disease modeling, and therapeutic development. Due to their role in peripheral nerve repair, Schwann cells (SCs)—a key subtype of Rat Nerve Stromal Cells—are widely studied for cell-based therapies to treat traumatic nerve injuries. When transplanted into damaged nerves, SCs promote axonal regrowth and remyelination, enhancing functional recovery.
