Rat Pulmonary Vein Smooth Muscle Cells from AcceGen are isolated from tissue of Sprague-Dawley Rats.
Rat Pulmonary Vein Smooth Muscle Cells are primary, contractile vascular cells isolated from the pulmonary veins of neonatal Sprague-Dawley rats. These cells display spindle-like morphology with adherent growth on gelatin-coated plastic surfaces. They express α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), a definitive marker of smooth muscle lineage, and are widely used in studies of vascular remodeling in pulmonary veins. These cells contribute to studies of vascular contractility, remodeling, and pulmonary hypertension by participating in extracellular matrix production, TGF-β1-mediated pathways, and smooth muscle proliferation in pulmonary veins. To ensure the quality of these primary cells, repeated freeze-thaw cycles are not recommended due to the fragile nature of these cells. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Rat Pulmonary Vein Smooth Muscle Cells are valuable tools for investigating vascular biology, especially pulmonary vasculature. They are widely used in studies of smooth muscle contraction, calcium signaling, hypertrophy, and vascular remodeling. These cells support research into the mechanisms of pulmonary hypertension, fibrosis, and the effects of vasoactive compounds. Their high purity and consistent expression of smooth muscle markers make them suitable for functional assays, immunostaining, Western blot, and drug screening applications targeting vascular diseases.
