Rat Primary Thyroid Fibroblasts from AcceGen are isolated from tissue of neonatal Sprague-Dawley Rats.
Rat Thyroid Fibroblasts are derived from the thyroid tissue of rats. Cryopreserved at early passage, these cells exhibit a spindle-shaped morphology and grow as adherent monolayers. They function in producing extracellular matrix components to support thyroid epithelial structure, regulating tissue remodeling, and secreting growth factors that modulate epithelial cell activity, making them relevant to studies on thyroiditis, goiter, and thyroid cancer stromal interactions. They express vimentin. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Rat Thyroid Fibroblasts serve as an in vitro model to study thyroid stromal functions and pathogenesis in conditions like thyroid fibrosis or autoimmune thyroiditis. For example, by examining their role in extracellular matrix production and immune cell crosstalk pathways, they enhance understanding of thyroid structural support and pathological remodeling, aiding in exploring treatments for fibrotic thyroid disorders.
