Description

EBC-1 cells
EBC-1 is a human squamous cell lung carcinoma cell line derived from the lung tissue. It originated from explant cultures of squamous, adenocarcinoma, and small cell carcinoma types. The cells exhibit epithelial morphology and grow adherently in DMEM medium at 37°C and 5% CO₂. EBC-1 cells carry a p53 mutation (p.Glu171Ter, c.511G>T), exhibit heterogeneity in EGFR mutations, and harbor Met gene amplification, resulting in overexpression of Met receptor tyrosine kinase, crucial for tumor growth, invasion, and metastasis. These cells are tumorigenic and, when implanted in hamsters, demonstrate high lung metastasis, making them an ideal model for studying metastatic mechanisms. EBC-1 cells are BSL-1 and free of HPV, HIV, and EBV. Their high viability, sterility, and consistent phenotype ensure reliable results for chemosensitivity and targeted therapeutic research in lung squamous cell carcinoma.

Application

  • EBC-1 cells, when implanted into hamsters, act as an effective model for investigating human pulmonary carcinoma. Researchers can utilize this model to investigate the mechanisms underlying metastasis and assess drug sensitivity of anticancer compounds. The EBC-1 model enables the exploration of new targets for cancer therapy and allows the screening for effective inhibitors to determine their ability to suppress pulmonary metastasis. This cell line provides a platform for studying the efficacy of potential therapeutic interventions and aids in the design of innovative therapeutic approaches for lung cancer.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the origin of EBC-1 cell line?

These cells are derived from a Japanese male with non-small cell lung carcinoma.

  • How often should the medium be changed?

The medium should be changed every 2-3 days.

  • What is the recommended seeding density?

    Approximately 1-2×10^4 cells/cm².

  • Why are my EBC-1 cells not adhering to the culture vessel?

Surface Quality: Ensure the culture vessels are tissue culture-treated.

Coating: Use extracellular matrix proteins like collagen or fibronectin to enhance adhesion.

Passage Number: Use cells with a lower passage number to avoid adhesion issues due to cellular senescence.
