EBC-1 cells are human lung squamous carcinoma cells with p53 mutation and Met gene amplification, used extensively in invasion, metastasis, and therapeutic.
EBC-1 cell line is a human non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) cell line derived from the metastatic lymph node of a 70-year-old Japanese male. These cells exhibit classic epithelial morphology and retain key biomarkers of squamous cell carcinoma. EBC-1 cells harbor genetic alterations typical of lung squamous carcinoma, including EGFR amplification and TP53 mutations, making them a robust model for studying tumor progression, drug resistance, and metastasis. They express markers such as cytokeratins and EpCAM, confirming their epithelial origin. A defining feature of the EBC-1 cell line is its MET exon 14 skipping mutation, leading to constitutive MET receptor tyrosine kinase activation, which drives oncogenic signaling and makes this cell line highly sensitive to MET inhibitors.

EBC-1 cells are widely used in cancer research, particularly for studying lung squamous cell carcinoma pathogenesis, drug screening, and molecular mechanisms of MET signaling. Their MET amplification makes them ideal for evaluating MET-targeted therapies (e.g., crizotinib). Additionally, they serve as a model for invasion assays, xenograft studies, and biomarker discovery in NSCLC. Their genetic stability and well-characterized mutations support translational research in precision oncology.

These cells are derived from a Japanese male with non-small cell lung carcinoma.
The medium should be changed every 2-3 days.
Approximately 1-2×10^4 cells/cm².
Surface Quality: Ensure the culture vessels are tissue culture-treated.
Coating: Use extracellular matrix proteins like collagen or fibronectin to enhance adhesion.
Passage Number: Use cells with a lower passage number to avoid adhesion issues due to cellular senescence.
