Description

Human Internal Thoracic Artery Smooth Muscle Cells, Adult (HITASMC) are adherent spindle-shaped vascular smooth muscle cells isolated from healthy adult human internal thoracic (formerly mammary) artery. These cells express α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), and demonstrate robust attachment, spreading, and proliferation in standard growth media. Their expansion capacity makes them a reliable model for studying vascular physiology, injury response, and arterial smooth muscle function. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures and is tested to ensure it is free from contamination by HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Human Internal Thoracic Artery Smooth Muscle Cells, Adult are suited for investigating arterial smooth muscle behavior in contexts such as vascular remodeling, proliferative response, and arterial injury signaling. They support gene expression profiling and comparative studies across vascular beds, including models of graft failure and atherosclerosis. These cells are applicable in screening pharmacological modulators of SMC contractility, proliferation, migration, and phenotypic switching, and are compatible with co-culture with endothelial cells for vessel remodeling studies.
