Description

Rat Cerebellar Granule Cells (CGCs) are primary neurons isolated from the cerebellum of rats. Rat CGCs exhibit a small, round soma and extend multiple neurites, forming a well-organized network in culture. These cells are ideal for studying neuronal differentiation, synaptic formation, and cerebellar function in vitro. Importantly, Rat CGCs serve as a valuable model for neurodegenerative diseases, cerebellar ataxia, and drug screening related to neuroprotection and neuroinflammation. They are cryopreserved at an early passage to preserve their physiological properties and responsiveness. In vitro studies indicate that rat CGCs express key neuronal markers such as neuronal nuclei (NeuN), βIII-tubulin, and microtubule-associated protein 2 (MAP2). Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Rat Cerebellar Granule Cells are extensively used in neuroscience research, particularly in the study of cerebellar development, neuronal plasticity, and neurodegenerative diseases such as ataxia. They serve as a valuable model for investigating mechanisms of neuronal excitotoxicity, synaptic dysfunction, and neuroinflammation. Additionally, rCGCs are applied in high-throughput screening of neuroprotective agents, as well as studying the cellular responses to environmental stressors. These cells are indispensable for elucidating the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases.
