Description

Rat Esophageal Epithelial Cells are primary epithelial cells derived from the stratified squamous lining of the rat esophagus. These cells constitute a critical barrier against mechanical and chemical stress and are actively involved in epithelial regeneration, inflammation, and disease progression. In vitro, they exhibit cobblestone-like morphology and express characteristic epithelial markers such as cytokeratins K4 and K13, E-cadherin, and p63. Rat esophageal epithelial cells are responsive to environmental stimuli and inflammatory mediators, making them suitable for modeling esophageal physiology and pathogenesis. AcceGen cryopreserves these cells at early passage to maintain their native functionality, proliferative capacity, and differentiation capacity. To ensure optimal experimental consistency, repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Rat Esophageal Epithelial Cells are ideal for investigating epithelial barrier function, squamous differentiation, and esophageal tissue response to injury, acid exposure, or carcinogens. They are widely utilized in research on gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Barrett’s esophagus, inflammation, and early-stage esophageal neoplasia. These cells also provide a reliable platform for testing therapeutic compounds, evaluating epithelial healing, and modeling stromal–epithelial or immune–epithelial interactions in co-culture systems.
