Description

BALB/c Mouse Resident Peritoneal Macrophages are primary immune cells isolated from the peritoneal cavity of unchallenged BALB/c mice (Mus musculus). Unlike elicited macrophages, resident peritoneal macrophages are collected without the use of inflammatory stimuli, representing a steady-state macrophage population that maintains peritoneal homeostasis. These cells are large, adherent, and exhibit irregular morphology consistent with tissue-resident macrophages. They express surface markers such as F4/80, CD11b, and CD68, and demonstrate key functional properties including phagocytosis, immune surveillance, cytokine secretion, and homeostatic clearance of apoptotic cells. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures and is tested to ensure it is free from contamination by Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • BALB/c Mouse Resident Peritoneal Macrophages offer a physiologically relevant model for exploring innate immune homeostasis, macrophage ontogeny, and tissue-specific immune regulation. They provide an ideal model for investigating macrophage polarization and immune tolerance. These cells are also valuable for exploring host defense mechanisms under non-inflammatory conditions. These cells also serve as a reference point for comparing responses to infection, injury, or immunomodulatory treatments. Additionally, they are used in studies of apoptotic cell clearance, antigen presentation, and macrophage cross-talk with lymphocytes and stromal cells.
