The JVM-2 cell line is derived from human B-cell leukemia, widely used for the lymphoma research, hematology, and drug screening applications.
JVM‑2 is a human lymphoblastoid cell line established from peripheral blood leukemic cells of a 63‑year‑old Caucasian female patient with B‑prolymphocytic leukemia that were immortalized in vitro with Epstein‑Barr virus (EBV) in the presence of phorbol ester TPA. JVM‑2 grows in suspension with lymphoblastoid morphology and is cytogenetically characterized by the recurrent t(11;14)(q13;q32) translocation, a feature associated with mantle cell lymphoma spectrum in chronic B‑cell leukemias. Immunophenotypic analyses show expression of B‑cell markers such as CD19 and CD20 with rearranged immunoglobulin genes, consistent with its leukemic B‑cell origin. Evidence for specific metastatic behavior in vivo is not broadly described. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV‑1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

JVM‑2 is used as an in vitro human B‑cell leukemia/lymphoma model for studies of leukemic B‑cell proliferation, immunophenotype characterization, and signaling pathways related to B‑cell malignancies. It supports investigations of EBV‑associated immortalization and gene regulation in transformed B cells, and is applied in drug screening and evaluation of therapeutic agents targeting B‑cell leukemia and lymphoproliferative disorders, as well as comparative studies of chromosomal translocation effects on cell growth and response to treatment.
