Reporter Stable Cell Lines
Reporter cell lines are useful tools that can be used to get an easy read-out of gene activation. GFP / RFP / luciferase can be used for marker localization of a specific gene, and its activation is monitored by flow cytometry.
So, reporter cells have been ideal tools for screening of high-throughput RNAi, peptide, and chemical libraries. Responsive reporter cells form the core of cell-based assays for screening and identifying drugs, antibodies, cell factors, and other effectors.
Reporter cell lines can be divided into two types: Constitutive Reporter Cell Lines (reporters are expressed under the control of a constitutive, strong promoter) and Inducible Reporter Cell Lines (reporters are expressed under the control of a minimal promoter).
