Description

Human Tonsil Epithelial Cells (hTEpiCs) are isolated from the epithelial layer of human palatine tonsils obtained from healthy donors during routine tonsillectomy procedures. These tonsil cells are of epithelial origin and exhibit a cobblestone-like morphology and adherent growth. hTEpiCs line the crypts and surface of the tonsillar tissue and serve as a crucial barrier and immunologically active interface between environmental antigens and underlying lymphoid structures. They express key epithelial markers such as cytokeratins and E-cadherin. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Human Tonsil Epithelial Cells (hTEpiCs) are used to study mucosal immunity, epithelial barrier function, and host–pathogen interactions in oropharyngeal and respiratory infections. These cells enable investigation of epithelial integrity, cell junction dynamics, and tissue remodeling in response to inflammatory stimuli. hTEpiCs are also used in co-culture systems with immune cells to model epithelial–immune interactions in the oropharyngeal mucosal environment.
